$assets --help

What Asset Vault does.

One record per device

Model, serial, purchase date, cost, warranty, owner, location and status, with every change logged.

Owner history

See who had a device before, when it was reassigned and in what condition it came back.

Repair and warranty tracking

Every repair ticket is attached to the device. Get a list of warranties ending in the next 60 days.

Spare stock

Know how many spare laptops, keyboards and headsets you have at each site before a new joiner asks.

Labels and quick lookup

Print QR asset labels. Technicians scan with their phone to open the device record.

Joiner and leaver checklists

Assign a kit on joining day and get a return list on the last day, so nothing walks out.

$cat /etc/access-rules

Access safety and responsible AI.

These rules are built into the product. They are not settings someone can switch off by mistake.

$ cat /etc/access-rules

Approval before change

AI never resets accounts, installs software or changes permissions without an engineer’s approval or the user’s own verified action.

Verified resets only

Users verify their identity before self-service password resets.

Company assets only

Device tracking covers company assets only. It never monitors personal activity.

Encrypted, never sold

Data is encrypted in transit and at rest, and never sold.

$man asset-vault

Asset Vault questions.

01Do we need to install an agent on every laptop?
No. You can run Asset Vault from imports and QR scans alone. The optional lightweight agent only reports hardware details and installed company software.
02Does it monitor what employees do?
No. Device tracking covers company assets only and never monitors personal activity.
03Can we track printers and network gear?
Yes. Any asset type can be added with its own fields, including printers, switches, CCTV recorders and access points.
